Lynn K. Weaver
Partner
Lynn Weaver is a partner in the firm's Chicago office. Ms. Weaver began her career as a prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in 1990. From 1990 until 1999, Ms. Weaver was assigned to the Narcotics Unit of the Special Prosecutions Bureau, the Felony Trial Division, and the Gang Crimes Unit of the Special Prosecutions Bureaus within the States Attorney's Office. During that time, she also supervised numerous criminal investigations and tried hundreds of felony cases, including over 50 felony jury trials.
In 1999, Ms. Weaver left the State's Attorney's Office to concentrate her practice in the area of civil litigation. Her practice includes extensive trial work and focuses on representing insurance companies in large loss subrogation, construction defect and product liability claims. Ms. Weaver has successfully resolved cases resulting in seven-figure recoveries for her clients.
Ms. Weaver's subrogation practice has taken her to jurisdictions throughout the United States where she has represented subrogated insurers and often times uninsured or underinsured corporations. She has personally conducted and supervised countless loss site investigations. The coordination of these investigations include site visitation, the selection and retention of qualified experts, the identification and notification of third party wrongdoers and the preservation of evidence, all which are crucial to the successful prosecution of a subrogation claim.
In addition to her trial work, Ms. Weaver has also successfully presented argument before the Supreme Court of Ohio in the case of Allstate Insurance Company v. CEI, Case No. 07-0452. That case established guidelines for determining whether a negligence claim against a utility company can be brought in the Court of Common Pleas or must be presented before the Public Utility Commission of Ohio. Ms. Weaver is also an adjunct professor at the Northwestern University School of Law where she teaches Trial Advocacy.
